THE FOUR ORIGINAL USUI SYMBOLS

The origins of the four original symbols used in Reiki have undergone a reappraisal in recent years with many questioning the source of Dr. Usui’s visions or even if he was given the symbols in a vision at all. Instead of adhering to the belief that the symbols were new to Dr Usui, it has been suggested that the symbols were actually, far older, and were sourced from his own studies into Sanskrit and Zen Buddhist teachings. This then facilitated a higher understanding of the energies that are Reiki, leading to a renaissance of this healing art, not just in Japan, but all over the world. Nearly a hundred years have passed since then, however, and the world has changed dramatically - socially, economically, physically, spiritually and dimensionally. Perhaps it is time for our own personal reappraisals of these symbols, not just to further our own development but to evolve the energy of Reiki along with our Planet and ourselves.
All of the symbols that we have been gifted with, be they particular to Usui, Seichem or Karuna Reiki, hold messages and teachings for all who take the time to sit with them regardless of whether one has been attuned to Reiki or not. Reiki is Universal energy which is the Source of us all, and to limit the teachings of these symbols to a select section of humanity is akin to withholding a natural birthright. The purpose of an attunement to Reiki, of whatever level, is for us to individually state our intention to consciously evolve in a sacred ritual, and, if we choose to, to undertake to guide others along the same paths that we have trod and learned from. It is not for us to jealously hoard sacred and profound wisdom as this is contrary to the teachings of the symbols themselves. Through my own continuing studies and engagements with these symbols my perspective on life and energy itself has changed greatly, and in turn, my life and the energy that I transmit has changed greatly too and I would love for all to have access to these blessings. I would suggest that part of our reappraisal should be a reconsideration of bringing them out into the light for all to see and be blessed with.
Another consideration to ponder is that these symbols are sentient and respond and interact with our energies. Think of the wording in our manuals that instructs us how to use each symbol and then feel how much more respectful, and loving, it would be if we were to replace the use, with, work with, or, interact, or even, join with. The feel of the energetic interaction immediately becomes lighter and more loving and aligns us even closer to Reiki/Source itself. As a Reiki and Seichem Master myself, I carry many symbols within my aura but it was not until I chose to acknowledge them in their own right and perceive them as energies rather than as tools, that I began to truly see them, with my perspective becoming a constantly evolving process. As such, I now consciously choose to join with them and care for my own energy with far greater responsibility as I can only channel the energy of these symbols in the frequency of light that I personally vibrate at. The relationship becomes symbiotic – they show me the way and support me to vibrate at higher light frequencies by transmuting the denser energies which I have accumulated, which then allows me to meld with and transmit these loving energies in purer and purer frequencies. We become One. As sentient beings that are far wiser and older than ourselves is it not also an irony that we act as if they have to be shielded and protected from the many unattuned that might seek to subvert their energies? Each symbol has a profound awareness and knowledge of themselves and need no protection. The Light/Love that each transmits is its own protection, as it will be for us when we have evolved our own understanding into a new perspective.
Accepting their sentience led to a deeper understanding again of how these symbols wish to work with us, regardless of whether we have been attuned to Reiki or not. We are taught in our manuals to use these symbols as part of Reiki treatments for specific purposes such as, for example, using the Say Hay Key for mental and emotional healing and balance. Aside from the energetic influence of the language used, (see above), it is reducing the energetic potential of each symbol to an nth of their true natures. We were gifted these teachers to guide us on our own journeys through the Ascension process. Our only responsibility on becoming a Practitioner or a Master is to Practise and Master our own thoughts and energies in order to manifest the highest quotient of light/love that we can in the Now. By dedicating our paths to this single undertaking we fulfil the highest ambition of our Souls and it is by this path that all will become One. With a true knowledge of the Symbols and an openness to their teachings our Way is guided with infinite love and I have found that the teachings of Masters such as Buddha and Jesus, take on new depths and clarity when viewed through the perspective of these symbols. Myriad souls in this Now are walking precisely this path without a formal attunement and so without the guidance of these symbols. How much more loving it would be if this knowledge was freely shared forin my e the highest good of all?
These symbols are sentient energetic beings and with them I am learning to See life with their perspective. By doing so, I do not use these symbols in healings, I consciously choose to embody their energies in my every Now, so that whoever I am with has the choice to interact and join with these energies themselves. I do not decide for others, I do not control the outcome or proceedings. I am a physical vessel that carries the energetic potential of the highest light that I can in this Now with the knowledge that the more I allow myself to be taught and the more that I allow to fall away of what no longer serves the light, the greater the energetic potential again. We can only ever heal ourselves but we can facilitate healings for others and the more we have worked on ourselves, the lighter and more loving the energies are that others can access and then come to embody themselves. To Master ourselves is our only mission here on Earth and by seeing, then embodying and finally merging with Light/Love we manifest Unity Consciousness in the Now. We are all One, as we always have been and always will be.
